Description Share Post Are You Looking at Me? Philip Ardagh, illustrated by Enrico Lorenzi (Little Tiger Press) Who have you been stared at? Could it be ‘a yeti with a big bowl of spaghetti’? Then again, maybe you’ve been ‘pointed at by pandas from the shade of their verandahs‘? Aren’t there so many animals who may have spotted you? In fact, could you have been ‘gazed at by a gazelle‘ or even ‘gawped at by a gibbon‘? However, it seems the ‘stariest of starers is A BIG BROWN BEAR.‘ Its stare suggests Are You Looking at Me? Philip Ardagh offers such entertaining rhyme through his wander through animal gazes, with each creature featuring such rich, comparative descriptions. Then again, Enrico Lorenzi’s pictures are direct, made more punchy and gaze worthy through their neon colours and range of focus. In these, we’re reminded of No More Mr. Mice Guy We move to frowning frogs and peering pythons, spying stoats and eyeballing emus. However none compare with ‘the big brown bear’. Really? Could there be a twist in this (animal) tale? Bookwagon is delighted to recommend Are You Looking at Me?
